Chapter 1
1.What problems or conflicts are presented in chapter 1 ?
Tao needing to find a rabbit is an obvious one,identify at least 2 more.
2.Predict the resolution of each conflict.
1.If he makes drawings he can get in trouble.Because in his clan there is a rule that there can only be a few drawers,and he is not one of them.But he loves to draw.
2.Tao`s does not know his father,his mom died before he can remember.And there is no elder to help him.
RESOLUTIONS
1.Tao should go some where far from hid land and draw some where else.
2.He should ask someone he knows to stick with him by his side.
CHAPTER 2
1.What two important events happen in this chapter.
1st event -Tao meets a wolf,but it`s hurt.The wolf has a peice of bone stuck on it`s jaw.
2nd event -Tao found a dark swamp that no one has gone to.
His clan says it`s for demons and evil spirits.
He heres piglets and animals ,so he forgets about the taboo and goes in through the bushes.

Reaction: That would suck you would have to have two kids one male and one female.You don't have to have two kids only one, but if you wanted more than two kids you couldn't. What if you wanted lets say four kids..you cant it's not normal for a family in their comunity. You couldn't even have two girls or two boys.

Reaction:Jonas is scared beacause he isn't shure of what his assignment is going to be. But his father, as he was a kid he already knew what his assignment was, so he wasn't as scared as Jonas. JOnas is more scared beacuse there was this one kid who wasa really smart, and eveeryone heard he was going to be an engineer, but he turned out to be a janitor.

Quote-The apple had changed. just for an istant. It had changed in mid-air, he remembered. Then it was in his hand, and he looked at it carefully, but it was the same apple. Unchanged. The same size and shape: a perfect sphere. The same nondescript shade.
Reaction:It's kind of weird how could you see something change, but then you look at it and it's still the same thing? I noticed that the author said "The same nondescript shade" arent apples supose to be red. Ithink something weird is going to happen in the book.

Reaction:When they make a release I think the person getting released tries to get into another community, and try to start a new family. I think Roberto went to someother place. Like not far away but to a different community.

Reaction:He thinks thier wil some kind of shot or something else not just pills. If that was me in this situation i would of said thats all, pils for stirring. I would of thought you would have to go through therapy or something.

Reaction:That wouls suck if you broke a rule or something u get released. If you get released you could never come back !! You would have to go somewhere else and try to find a new family.

Reaction:I would of never have guesed the Cheif Elder would of been a girl. The Cheif Elder is a big role in their community, and a girl has that role. If I made the rules I would of gave the role to a man.

Quote-Jonas has been selected to be the next Receiver of Memory.
Reaction:That is the biggest role in there community. His job is to learn the memories of the whole world. That is a BIG role in their communty. I don't think I could have handled this job at the age of 12.

Quote-"What happened to her?" he asked nervously.
But his parents looked blank. "We don't know."
Reaction:That sucks something would happen to someone you know, but you don't know whats wrong.
That woud be kind of scary too. Thats what happened to my great-granmother, she wa sick but we didn't know what was wrong with her.

Reaction-This makes the job harder for Jonas. He not only has to know the memories of his community, elsewhere too. Even the whole world's memories. I could of never got this job to do. It would of been to big of a task for me I would of not handled this very good.

Reaction I think they have no snow no hills and no sleds because of the cliumate they have if they have a hot climaye how could they have snow?

Reaction:Jonas had been talking to the Giver about Fionas hair,the apple ,and the peoples faces in the ceremony.I think that Jonas was really curious.The Giver told him it was because he was seeing the color red for the first time.He said that he had been seeing the color red because they had taken color and the sunshine because the people chose sameness.But Jonas said that they shouldn't have taken away that decision.I think that Jonas was right.

Quote-We really have to protect people from wrong choices."
Vocabulary- Access, the ability, right, or permission to approach.
Reaction-I think if they don't protect people from bad choices who will? And they have to stop people from making bad choices not to mess up their lifes. If I could help stop people making bad decisons, I think I would be pretty good at helping them stop making bad choices.

Quote- "But what wisdom do you get from hunger?"
Vocabulary-Excruciating, extremely painful.
Reaction-I think if you are hungry you don't have that much widom, but you start eating and feel more energy more wisdom.
If someone would of told me this I would od been confused by this and I wouldn't known what it ment.

Quote-The Giver looked away, as if he could not bear to see what he had done to Jonas. "Forgive me, " he said.
Reaction-He can barely look at Jonas for what memory he has given Joans. And he really means it beacause The Giver says their is no room for forgivness and he forgave Joans.

Quote-And they won't be part of my life anymore. . . And they'll be well cared for and respected."
Reaction- They mean when they go to the House of The Old they we'll be treated good. And they will be respected. And as they get older they will get more sick, and sooner or later they will be realeased "KILLED"

Quote- "Then I wave bye-bye," he said, in the special sweet voice he used when he spoke to the newchild.
Reaction- That is kind of freaky.But I think he's used to talking to little kids like that because he has to kids of his own, but their older. But it's pretty messed up what they did to the newborn baby in the story. They released the newborn baby. And it's gone forever.

Chapter 18&19
Reaction- That's prettyu messed up what they did to the newborn baby. Now I know what happens when you get released, you get an injection and get killed, that's really harsh. It sucks for Jonas he had to see his father kill that newborn baby. It sucks for the baby beacuse they took his life away he never got a chance in life.
Chapter 20
Quote-"She's very efficient at her work, your red-haired friend. Feelings are not part of the life she's learned."
Reaction-That is really sad. The girl he loves can't love him back and she also kills people Jonas gets to be the only one that loves people. Jonas should be really sad but the good memories have the ability to keep him having something to live for. As always, love hurts but no one in his community can feel love or feelings.

Chapter 21 Quote-"First thing tomorrow morning."
Reaction- Jonas is going to escape with Gabriel and he will get a chance to experence life with color, like flowers trees grass all kinds of stuff. Where ever he goes he hopes he will have a better life then the one he had with emotions and feeling.

Quote-What happened to Jonas?
Reaction-Ithink that, he lives elsewhere which is better then where he lived before. I cant beleave he went bacl and changed utopia.I like this ending because it is a cool ending. Jonas and the Giver changed their community at the end.

Reaction- That is kind of freaky.But I think he's used to talking to little kids like that because he has to kids of his own, but their older. But it's pretty messed up what they did to the newborn baby in the story. They released the newborn baby. And it's gone forever.

Chapter 18&19
Reaction- That's prettyu messed up what they did to the newborn baby. Now I know what happens when you get released, you get an injection and get killed, that's really harsh. It sucks for Jonas he had to see his father kill that newborn baby. It sucks for the baby beacuse they took his life away he never got a chance in life.
Chapter 20
Quote- "She's very efficient at her work, your red-haired friend. Feelings are not part of the life she's learned."
Reaction-That is really sad. The girl he loves can't love him back and she also kills people Jonas gets to be the only one that loves people. Jonas should be really sad but the good memories have the ability to keep him having something to live for. As always, love hurts but no one in his community can feel love or feelings.

Chapter 21
Quote- "First thing tomorrow morning."
Reaction- Jonas is going to escape with Gabriel and he will get a chance to experence life with color, like flowers trees grass all kinds of stuff. Where ever he goes he hopes he will have a better life then the one he had with emotions and feeling.

Quote- What happened to Jonas?
Reaction-I think that, he lives elsewhere which is better then where he lived before. I cant beleave he went bacl and changed utopia.I like this ending because it is a cool ending. Jonas and the Giver changed their community at the end.
